2006 This year's Human Development Report, subtitled 'Beyond Scarcity: Power, Poverty and the Global Water Crisis' was launched on November the 9th in Copenhagen. This report focuses on the growing water and sanitation crisis and states clearly that the world's water problem is not a problem of physical water scarcity, but of poor management, poverty and unequal access to water. 2006 Shaping the future of Europe's international research cooperation. Preparations have begun for EU Framework Programme 8 and to what research policy might look like by 2015. An EU-funded project has outlined a vision of how the EU's international cooperation in science and technology might develop in the future. It sees the EU focusing on, among other things, helping developing countries to reform their research policy rather than investing directly in research.
