Knowledge Network on Water and Development

The Knowledge Network is administered by DWF in cooperation with the International research School of Water resources FIVA. The network promotes knowledge sharing, research and development of joint activities as important elements in Danish development assistance. The Knowledge Network was established by the end of 2003 to enhance the exchange of knowledge in the water sector, create synergy and support the technical quality in Danish development aid. The focus is within Danida water sector programs as well as in sector programs where water is an issue, e.g. agriculture, environment, and health. From 1st of August 2009 the Knowledge Network received a new grant to continue the activities for the period 2009-2011 with enhanced focus on facilitation of research cooperation between researchers from Denmark and partner countries. We also work towards inclusion of research in the Danish development aid, sharing of knowledge between North and South and activities in support of improved research capacities in Danish partner countries.

The network comprises of individuals and organizations representing the broad spectrum of the water sector: Organizations, ministries, authorities, private companies, research institutions and universities.

Danish Water Forum cooperates closely with two other research networks on Health and on Agriculture, Environment and Governance on meetings, workshops, and other activities of mutual interest. The networks jointly facilitate the selection of projects to receive travel stipends for Master's Students field work.
